The University of Kentucky Office for Institutional Diversity will be a Leader Sponsor at this year’s DiverCity Festival.

Incepted in 2019, DiverCity emerged as a class project of the 2018-19 class of Leadership Lexington. The DiverCity Festival seeks to educate, embrace and celebrate the multitude of cultures that enrich the city of Lexington.

“The University of Kentucky Office for Institutional Diversity takes pride in being a sponsor of the DiverCity Festival,” Ja’Mahl McDaniel, director of the Martin Luther King Center, said. “We recognize the importance of ensuring the work of diversity and inclusion extends beyond the campus and strive to work in solidarity with our Lexington community partners. This event creates space to acknowledge the rich cultural and global diversity of our community, celebrate and think critically about how we can come together.”

As a Leader Sponsor, the university will have a booth at the event. Here, representatives from the Office for Institutional Diversity will speak with the community about what the office has to offer the university campus and the Lexington community.

This year’s DiverCity festival will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza. The event will feature over 70 cultural booths, more than 40 performances and dozens of food vendors.

DiverCity is open to the entire community. No registration is required. The planning committee encourages all to attend and to experience the spirit of the Lexington community.
