MLK Center to host MLK Legacy Week

Starting this week, the University of Kentucky Martin Luther King (MLK) Center is commemorating its presence on campus as a space for advocacy and culturally-based education with the MLK Center Legacy Week. 

Employee Affinity Groups gather for annual advance

The Office for Institutional Diversity (OID) recently hosted an Employee Affinity Group (EAG) Advance. The goal of the day was to gather as one, discuss progress and how EAGs can continue to grow on campus in the future.  An EAG is a group of faculty and staff linked by a common purpose, ideology or interest.  At the University of Kentucky, EAGs play a vital role in ensuring an inclusive environment where all are valued, included and empowered to succeed. 

MLK Center, partners celebrate the Week of M.O.R.E.

From Oct. 26-28, the University of Kentucky Martin Luther King Center is partnering with the Counseling Center, a unit it the Office for Student Success, the Neighborhood Healers Project and the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research to host a Week of M.O.R.E, which stands for Mental Health, Outreach, Resources and Education. 

Lyman T. Johnson Awards recognize more than 60 alumni, students

More than 60 alumni and students were honored during the 31st annual Lyman T. Johnson Awards program Friday, Oct. 14 at the Gatton Student Center.   The University of Kentucky Alumni Association Lyman T. Johnson African American Alumni Constituency Group and the UK Office for Institutional Diversity hosted the awards luncheon as part of the 2022 Lyman T. Johnson Homecoming Celebration. The 2021 ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, leading to a combined ceremony this year. 

UK to welcome TIAA President and CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett to campus

University of Kentucky Human Resources will welcome Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA) President and CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett to campus 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, for a fireside chat session.

Join the Lyman T. Johnson African American Alumni Constituency Group and the Office for Institutional Diversity for an afternoon celebrating the 2021 and 2022 Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence and Torch Bearer award recipients.

Inclusive Excellence Program now accepting 2023 student grant proposals

The University of Kentucky Office for Institutional Diversity is accepting proposals for the next round of grant funding through the office's Inclusive Excellence Student Program grants. Proposals for this round will be accepted from Oct. 1-31, 2022. Selected proposals will be awarded funding for the Spring 2023 semester. The Inclusive Excellence Student Program will fund grants up to $15,000 for creative diversity programming ideas.

UK named 2022 HEED Award recipient, Diversity Champion by INSIGHT Into Diversity

For the sixth consecutive year, INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education, has recognized the University of Kentucky as a Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award recipient.
